Over the past couple of years The Board of Fusions has had to undertake a a number of legal negotiations, mainly associated with leasing the Brunswick Street Gallery property, and we are very grateful to the law firm Clayton Utz for providing legal services, support and advice. To show its appreciation Fusions purchased one of Julie Shepherds'ceramic artworks, 'Hidden Treasures' to gift to the Clayton Utz art collection. Julie is a long time Fusions' member and supporter, and her delicate pierced porcelain pieces are highly acclaimed in the ceramic artworld. We are proud to have been able to contribute such a fine piece of artwork to this respected collection.
Fusions is one of a list of 21 arts groups which recently joined together to form a cooperative community named 'Brisbane Visual Arts Community'(BVAC) This initiative was driven by Lena Tisdall who, together with Fusions' member Judy Hamilton, has been for the past year or more actively pursuing the idea of creating a Community Arts Centre in Brisbane.
The cafe / restaurant / bar, Lady Lamington which is leasing the Fusions property on Brunswick Street opened for business on Monday 16 January. The Board has the members' approval to sell the property but has been waiting for the business to be up and running before proceeding. Board member June Cummings from the Gold Coast tried out the lunch menu on Saturday and has reported favourably.
